History of dampers on Fender basses

I think you’re forgetting that fender did in fact make an adjustable mute that was used on the Bass vi. Obviously not what you’re referring to for a 4-string but to say that only the jazz bass individual dampers and the glued foam on bridge covers is all they made would be incorrect.

    Rick-o-sonic concentric knob P bass

Long story short without resistors (which prevent the interaction, and lower the overall volume slightly), the volume knobs, not the tone, will each act as a master off at 0 and backing off one of the pickups lowers the overall volume. I don’t know how but danelectro concentric knobs don’t use...

pros and cons of stacked jazz knobs?

I recently learned TRS stereo allows you to “isolate” the pickups, their controls, and finally any interaction between the volume without using any resistors.

pros and cons of stacked jazz knobs?

Correct me if I’, wrong but the volume knobs interact not the tone knobs. Just wired by PJ concentric stereo/mono (combined mono out) and mono into the stereo out just gives you P, without any resistors, and what happens on the combined mono out is either volume acts as a master control, and...

“1960 Jazz” style concentric, Vt, Vt, Stereo/mono output American Elite P bass. I just need to switch the stereo outs such that when you plug a mono cable into the stereo out you only get the P pickup instead of the jazz.

Very nice, you’ll have to send me the wiring for your mono switch. The only stereo setup I find disturbing is having two separate mono outputs, Billy Sheehan, it just seems odd. But hey I guess its easier to use two wireless transmitters than to splice two into one TRS cable.

That’s awesome, do you also have a mono output or do you need a special cable to run into one pre with both pickups?

1960s Jazz Bass - Isolated Dual Stacked Vol/Tones - How does it affect tone?

I don’t know if this helps but when using the stereo output on my PJ, concentric knob with Rickenbacker dual outputs, there is no interaction between the volume knobs, conversely when using my mono output they do interact (not using any resistors at all) and volume at zero on either acts as a...

I’m a new member but I just finished making my American Elite PJ into a concentric knob, VT, VT, dual output stereo/mono. Pretty neat huh?

    Rick-o-sonic concentric knob P bass

After deciding to strip down by Fender American elite to attempt a concentric knob 1960 Jazz style, I asked, how could this get any cooler, and how might I prevent the volume knobs from interacting without the use of resistors? The answer: stereo TRS cable and rickenbacker dual output. The only...
