I might have to join this club at some point. I have attached some pic's of my $69 Jazz kit build. I sweated bullets over the head stock shaping but do know what? Every time i walk past it i smile a little bit. BTW it now has tapes on it.

Why didn't you stain the back of the neck? Looks kind a odd having maple on a stained body like that...
Just an observation... otherwise great project, I always like kits, they take away certain labor that might be better served by others without compromising the costs.

There's a whole world of cheap kits that with a little effort can get you a very good bass spending below $200.

btw, do you want a number? If so it'll be 1110, like all of us, and of course WELCOME, nice to have you here.

Pictures don't really show the neck well, I gave it several coats of Tung oil finish, very tinted and soooo smooth!

I've been away for a couple weeks, and will be again soon. My publisher expects me to actually write my book. the nerve of them. On my floating top bass... I had it done and was not satisfied with the finish, so i stripped it down and an starting again. I had my daughter take a pic of the progress. I had to hold the top in place as it hasn't been assembled yet.

Been gone for a couple of weeks. Finally got back to work, and playing catch up has been crazy!!! Had a day off today, and got to do some screwing/soldering/tweaking. The P'JAZZTER is finally DONE!!!

I'll post some better pics, when I have better light.

She plays/sounds WONDERFUL!!! I'm really stoked on this project.

I like that color a lot. Looks like you've got two single coil pups on there. How does the sound compare to a standard Jazz bass? Not familiar with the original P-bass tone myself, only the later split coil models.

Actually... the neck pickup is a '51 Precision reissue. And the bridge, is a '72 Jazz reissue. Both, in the proper position.

I suppose that You could call this a vintage/hybrid/paranormal P/J. LOL

As far a tones go... it's got some really neat "scooped", vintage sounds. I'm still playing with them, as I haven't much time. I just wanted to finally get her assembled. Warm bottom. Tight J. Many variations. I only got to spend a short while with Her, but... it was FUN, so far.

I'll have the weekend off, next week, and will have more time to get into Her. I'll keep Y'all updated, and post more pics.

Thank You. I like it alot. If You go back to posting #110, You'll se that I used color shift paint. She changes from Emerald, to Turquoise depending on the angle. Pretty fun.

well I don't have the pictures downloaded on this computer. but I can quote a post i did for Mediocre bassists club. Here it is.

happy good day.
I finished my floating top bass.
It sounds a lot like a semi-hollow bass, but with less sustain, rather than more.
I probably would get the resonance I expected if i enclosed the back.
But this was a learning experience. And I learned a lot.
Although it wasn't the results i expected, I love the bass as it is. This will be one that I use a lot, along with my 6 string.

Of course my Rickenbacker has the two output system.(mono and stereo)
The rest have one stereo jack and my stereo cable. And lately I’ve been installing a switch that makes it mono. I usually use two amps. Sometimes an amp with two channels.

Very nice, you’ll have to send me the wiring for your mono switch. The only stereo setup I find disturbing is having two separate mono outputs, Billy Sheehan, it just seems odd. But hey I guess its easier to use two wireless transmitters than to splice two into one TRS cable.

The last mono switch I installed was a simple switch to merge the outputs to the tip of the stereo jack.
