What Was the Best Stingray You've Ever Played?

I've gotten into Stingrays this year after playing a long time, and I purchased a Stingray Special 4 HH fretless and it is the bomb. The tone is so good, the feel is excellent, it's beautiful, and it weighs 8.25 lbs. Pics attached.

    Birdsong Club Pt 2

I like the Labella low tension flats. They do make them short string.

    Concert Photo of Esperanza Spalding

I saw her at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2014. I had not heard of her before that. She is an incredible talent.

    Fiftieth Anniversary Stingray Review

I agreed about the finish. EBMM has a lot of nice finishes but this is not one of them. I just got a stingray 4 HH in trans teal and it is sweet.

Flipping a right handed for a lefty

easy enough just to buy a lefty there are plenty of them out there. If you mod a righty it will not feel as comfortable and you will have damaged the value of the right handed bass.

Light weight Music Man Stingray? Do they exist?

I ordered a Stringray 4 HH from the Musicman Design Experience. It weighs 8.25 lbs. Sweetwater lists the weights of many of their basses. One thing I have noticed is most of the lighter ones have ash bodies (either clear or translucent finished bodies are ash). Stringrays do vary so if you can...

How to Get Close to Upright tone on a Fretless Electric

I recently got a Stingray 5HH fretless and it is the bomb so I've been practicing quite a bit. I'm in an oldies band and my goal is to play it on a set with the band. Lots of 50s and early 60s music was recorded with an upright so I want to try to get close to that tone. I've got flats on the...

Fretless and fretted different scale lengths

Thanks for all of your responses. I play the Fallout because it sounds great. I do have a 34" fretted G&L SB-1 I could play, sounds good but not as versatile. I am going to try switching between scales as I am doing now. If I put in enough practice time I should be ok. We'll see.

Fretless and fretted different scale lengths

I've been playing fretless on and off for years, but just got a Stingray fretless and am putting on a push to play fretless better and hopefully even play it live with my band. My question is this: I've been playing my fretted G&L Fallout 30" scale bass with my band, and of course the Ray is...
