Good news, Spector is done and he found a bad chip in the EBMM. Way cheaper than having to spend big $$$ on a new pre from EBMM.

Yea, I like the way it sounds. It's a limited number bass, a MM sub with sterling electronics factory and that's from ebmm website! If I want a bass to sound a certain way, I buy the parts and build the whole thing like I'm doing with a 54 p bass replica I'm doing.

Bad news this morning on the Musicman, he thinks the pre is shot. He's going to go a little deeper into it and check solder joints, but I might have to do a new pre. Pretty bummed about that, goes from playing and sounding great to doa with no warning signs. If the pre is done, anyone have...

Yes it came and went as he messed with the pot, so this one doesn't scare me now.

Yes I do, that's what I'll use on the Brubaker to make sure it's the battery box.

Blew my mind when the Spector was diagnosed as easy as it was, thing that's a killer on that is it's a 2017 bass. The one that has me nervous is the Musicman, have a feeling that one is not going to be as easy of a fix.

Well took 2 of the basses to a local shop today, the MM and the Spector. MM bass he looked at and said it could be a couple things and he would have to check deeper, the Spector on the other hand, much to my surprise, worked when he plugged it in! He played with it some and tweeked one of the...

I agree about the battery boxes, and am starting to suspect that maybe at the root of my problems. All of my basses that you have to pull a back plate and plug a new battery in seem to be doing fine, as I jinx myself. lol

I'm going to check that on the Spector and the MM next. Didn't even think of that at all, and none of my musical friends suggested it either, all I checked was nothing was frayed or loose. Thank You!!

    Active basses dying

About 1/2 my basses I bought because they were collectable or limited editions, and most of those are passive. But whats confusing me is the MM, because it has low playing time on it, so hardly any wear. I have a Spector from 98, and a fender from 94, no issues with either of those basses and...

MM and spector there's no semi-local shops certified for them, the brubaker was modded(not by me) with a duncan pre in it. brubaker a friend and I just spoke and he thinks bad solder joint. The other 2 are factory stock with no mods, but little to no output.

Brubaker with the Seymore pre is completely distorted, makes me think not getting complete battery power. The Spector and Musicman have little to no sound from them. Those 2 are the ones that are really puzzling me, both have good 9.2 volts out of batteries.

Using Different cables when testing on different amps, so it's not a cable problem.
