    Official Fender ACB Club

Hi; apologies if I am intruding, may I ask about your experience with the TV 12 combo? My TV 10 has died; the UK Fender service centre tell me that the PSU on the IC has developed a fault and is irreparable. My immaculate combo would appear to be scrap except that I could use the speaker alone...

    Fender Bassman TV series...No club???

Hi there I have been recommended to try here! I’m from England and my TV 10 has died. The PSU has failed on the IC and the UK Fender service centre says that nothing can be done. Any ideas please? It’s such a cool sounding amp and is otherwise in immaculate condition. Thank you very much.

    The Combo Club

No sorry; maybe wrong thread I don’t know. I mean my Fender Bassman TV 10 combo from 2011. Fender tell me it’s scrap. Wondering if anyone can help? The PSU is no longer available and as it’s on the IC anyway, any other off the shelf PSU wouldn’t fit.

    The Combo Club

Hi all, please may I seek help with my TV 10 tweed combo? I lost volume and sent it to the UK service centre who tell me that the PSU has packed up. It can’t be replaced and the amp is scrap now that it’s 13 years old. I’m broken hearted as it’s a fantastic sounding combo; I’ve taken care of it...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

I’ve PMd BbbyBld but without reply. Thanks jastacy, I’ve wound the bias point down to 43.5 volts and the distortion has reduced. This was quoted to me by the UK distributor who emailed Peavey. A much better response than the local Peavey service centre. I may drop it lower by a touch another...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

I wonder if you would be where you are now if everyone told you to take it to a tech? How does anyone ever learn? The bias point on this VB-2 reads 48.1 with my multi meter. which I take to mean -48.1 millivolts DC. Like bb5000 says But this must mean something to somebody? It is a ‘learning...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

The multi meter is set to read DC volts and is reading 48.1. The tubes have a plate current of 78 according to bb5000 earlier. This is 61% then of 78. Should be about right do you think? I’d have to ask Peavey what voltage the amp operates at but I guess most VB2s would be the same?

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

Hi guys, well I’ve got as far as testing the current bias which is 48.1. Beleive me when I say this a voyage of discovery. I guess the next thing is to work out what it should be! What do I need to look at? Are there tube tables or something out there which will reference the specs or the range...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

Thanks to bb5000, I must acknowledge the idea to try the DI socket. Did so and both pre and post DI options are working good through an external power amp. I can see why the overdrive channel divides opinion on the VB2; it seems full on buzzsaw distortion right from the start. I may have to play...

Ha! You’re absolutely right of course! I’ll keep you posted  thanks all so far.

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

Thanks very much for these useful thoughts guys. I can check the DI out no problem; and if that works out I’m left with how to bias the new tubes. There’s no video on YouTube that is specific to the VB2 as far as I can find. So next question has to be about that. Any ideas where I can go for...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

Thanks guys. It’s always difficult to describe a sound but it’s like a metallic distortion right from the start, and not in a good way. The preamp section sounds clean when taking a feed from the tuner socket into the power amp section of another amp. So I figured it’s the output tubes. I didn’t...

First time putting new tubes into Peavey VB-2

Hi Guys, after a lifetime of transistor and hybrid amps I’ve finally got an all-valve head. The VB-2. Sadly it sounds crap and so I’ve got 6 new JJ EL34 Mark 2 tubes that came today. Can anyone help with two questions please? The tubes have values written on the boxes. PC and TC. What’s that...
