Official Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Club

I've noticed a similar sound with mine, so it may very well be the stock string. On another note, I have my low E saddle adjusted as high as it can go (still with the stock strings) and I'm getting some buzz that comes through the amplifier. The action isn't particularly high, it's just the...

Has anybody changed the nut on their Bass VI? The one that came with mine is cut a bit too deep and sloppily. I'm fairly certain that Graphtech makes a slotted nut in the right size, so I think I could just widen the slots and pop it in.

Mine arrived today. Only had a few minutes to noodle with it before I had to leave for work. That .084 low E is just godawful. I'm surprised my electric tuner could even pick it up. Chords on the high strings sound great though. Regrettably I got an email from BassStringsOnline saying the...

    Hartley PEAVEY about chinese quality

I have almost no experience with Peavey's bass gear, but I've played with a number of people who use Peavey guitar amps like the XXX, Valveking, and Delta Blues and they always had some pretty great tones going. I'd imagine it's the same with their bass gear: the budget end stuff will be...

    Wow. Just. Wow.

That baby looks like it was born to be a fan-fret, so the fact that it has normal frets is actually a bit disappointing.

Does a Compressor Remove Your Dynamics?

Yup! Death Magnetic by Metallica was one particularly egregious offender that actually got a lot of press for it. Any album mixed like that gives me headaches, it's just too much.

Good to hear, thanks. I think I am going to go with the tapes, for now at least. If I don't like them I will just go for a Circle K set and leave it with rounds.

Official Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Club

Just ordered a 3TS Bass VI! Wanted one for a while, finally had some funds in my instrument budget to go for it. I'm gonna be reading through this thread from the start, but in the meanwhile I figured I'd ask: what are the current favorite strings? I like chromes on my other basses, not...

    .266 low B string

I decided to do just that. He's certainly a killer player, but when he went for the lowest string it might as well not have been there. Might be more impressive in person in that you can feel that note if he really does have the hardware to accommodate it, but it really just seems like a gimmick.

    2015 Gibson SG Bass...price doubled?

Doesn't Gibson always end up blowing out last year's models around this time of year? I got my SG guitar for something like $500 a bit after Thanksgiving last year. I think they've kind of become the Joseph A. Bank of instruments: if you pay full retail price you're overpaying by a pretty huge...

    The Krappy Bassists Klub

I figure I should post a picture of what I'm already working with. It's a lot of fun, and surprisingly stable for having no truss rod. I have the tiniest hint of fret buzz on one fret, but I find that it's actually something I can use as a tonal tool when I hit that note really hard. It...

    The Krappy Bassists Klub

Hey Krappy bassists! I've had a two-string Krappy for about a year now and I'm thinking of getting another. It's definitely more fun to play than any other bass I've owned, though sometimes I feel a bit limited with only two strings. I'm thinking of asking if he'll do me a fanned fret SG...
