Got mine yesterday. Three sting ADG, fretted, jazzish string spacing, single humbucker, short scale, single cut. I provided strap locks, cheapo tuners, and an onboard distortion effect I got off eBay about 5 years ago and never used. It plays great, feels great, sounds great, smells terrible.
Seriously. That smell. Bad.
So...does it go away? Or at least fade? Is there a way to speed up that process or cover up the smell? Would painting it do that? Not sure if, for example, the fretboard has the same oil, so that might not work. Honestly, my wife is pregnant and I'm sensitive to that sort of thing. (Perfumes can trigger migraines for me.) So, I kinda need the smell gone for it to be usable for more than a few minutes at a time.
