Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Well no I did not intend to do anything other than playing it a lot…Can’t say I have ever noticed a difference but I’m more used to 50+ years old speakers than brand new ones.

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

So I just installed the speaker and played around a bit and so far I'm really liking it, of course it needs breaking in a little. It also has more than enough high frequency response for what I want to to with it so I'm glad it worked out thanks to you all. My first impression was how lighter...

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Hi ! Since I have ordered the Delta 15b, it turns out that the speaker might take approx. 2 weeks before it's shipped and it has got me thinking...I'm planning on adding these two units to my studio setup as soon as funds permit : https://www.khe-audioelectronics.com/shop/acs-8x4...

Thanks a lot, I have deleted all of my social media accounts but I did used to follow this group, and that’s where I bought the replacement vibrato arm. All of the bridge covers I’ve seen online are of the wrong kind. I might as well take the one I have and have it machined to accommodate the arm.

Hello there, I just wanted to contribute, here's my (quite rare) 6 string Split Sound bass from 1964. Years after nerding out about it in the Melody Nelson thread, I finally found one ! I am truly in love with it, it's a secret studio weapon for sure. Currently located here in France. The...

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Ooh the plot thickens ! Were they more modern speakers cabinets or were they from the 60´s ?

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

For now it seems the Sorry, wrong choice of words from my part! For now I think I'll go with the Delta 15B, it seems like the best compromise for my use. That way I can plug all of my amps and cabs into the Kayahan 8 amps/4 speakers rackmount midi switcher and not worry about impedance...

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Yep, I can grab a Delta 15B for around 110€ here, sounds like a good deal (at least it's less expensive than the amp)!

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

@buldog5151bass that's a good point, the reason I'd like to put it back together is that right now it's just as useless to me as an empty casket  @mikewalker thank you for taking the time, as usual with AI it is pretty hit-and-miss but I did come across the Eminence Delta 15B as a...

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

It’s not original anymore, it has been replaced in the past by a somewhat newer model, so it’s possible that I might be able to change the output impedance from the OT. If that’s the case then it’s good news, but it’s still a compromise because I won’t be able to use the cab with all of my amps...

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Interesting, it does look like it but my speaker doesn’t have a ribbed cone. It does have an aluminum dust cover. But I’m pretty sure it was make in Germany, possibly by Elbau ?

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

    I know…but I really like the idea of having a 15’’ cab here, and I already have a 2x12 that I adore…

Replacement 15" 16ohms speaker for 1964' Dynacord cabinet

Indeed. That being said, I'm not looking for the end-all-be-all of bass speakers. Just a nice efficient speaker to record bass at moderate volume. If I really can't find a single 15" 16ohms speaker, I've thought about buying a 8ohms driver and adding a second smaller 8ohms driver (maybe 10")...
