I recently noticed a crack on my bass where the neck is bolted onto the body. It's pretty small right now but it's in a place that I think gets stressed a lot and I'm worried/wondering if it could get worse over time. Picture of crack Closeup of crack Does it look like it's not a big deal?

They are both different styles so whatever appeals to you is best. I think though that double thumbing is a good investment in technique that allows for more versatility in the future. For instance without a pick you can transition from slap and pop to right hand hammer-ons to fingerstyle...

The neck pickup was really low at first but I adjusted that and my friend help me lower the action as well. So I'd say the distance from the string to the pickup right now is pretty normal. I'm using Hi Beams so that makes sense. I find it difficult to get a nice fat tone for finger style and it seems that what I find on the talkbass board is also similar.

I think the mexican MM's are going fast as well since he switched his endorsements. There used to be 3 on the GC website. I hear the electronics for the MIM MM are better than the MIJ.

Would you say your MM bass is a bit on the bright/trebly side? I also got one used and it's quite bright so I'm not entirely sure if the pickups were changed by the old owner.

I called about them recently. Barring any new ones, the sunbursts ones on the site are Mexican.

I recently acquired a used MIJ MM jazz bass and the tone seems very bright/trebly. I'm unsure if the previous owner changed any of the hardware as I have no frame of reference for this bass. I was wondering if others who have this bass have a similar perception/experience with the MIJ MM bass?
