Now's the time to get one. There are a few on the gc used site but not nearly as many as they used to be. I'm sure the new Sire basses are great, but nothing's like a Japanese Fender.I'm GASing for one of those

Volume volume treble bass, active/passive. Only the volumes work in passive but the passive tone is beastly. Truly an amazing bass. I'm playing it at a teeny tiny bar gig tonight. I'm pretty psyched.Great looking bass and it looks like it's already broken in. Is it V V T T?
It's not too bad. It's probably not 12. More like 10. I use a wide padded strap anyway so I'm not too concerned.
The shielding seems fine on mine. I haven't played it out yet but it's quieter in my apartment than other basses have been.
Are you sure about the battery? I've always heard that even with the active/passive switch the battery will die if I leave it plugged in.

the sunburst that has been priced dropped is what I'm saving for XDI called about them recently. Barring any new ones, the sunbursts ones on the site are Mexican.
Hmmmmm....I'll give it a shot then.I'm sure about the battery. the switch disconnects the active circuit.
I'll bet you a new Duracell on it!
Yah I haven't really gotten to know the preamp very well. I'm blown away by the passive tone. The bass and treble boost in active mode are nice, but I could honestly live without them. The only mod I'm seriously considering is passive tone control. These are great basses and a lot of us believe that more weight = more tone, so you are good there.
I also like this model because it does not really clone Marcus's tone too much. The real clones are the Atelier Z's - which are awesome as well.
This signature model just works on everything. I'd suggest a preamp switch if you don't like the current one, because a jazz bass with a proper pre is one of the greatest sounds in the world.
What's that supposed to mean old man? This bass has been hanging on the wall of this particular store for years. It's got the damage from slap happy teenagers to prove it. I went in today and they dropped the price significantly. I make an offer and the dude says it's already too low. I go back later and I get another guy who's willing to make a deal so the bass came home with me. It has the quality I expect from Fender Japan. Powerful pickups with lots of variation. It's heavy though. Has to be at least 12 pounds but there's so much tone. Damn fine bass.
