NBD Fender Marcus Miller

It's not too bad. It's probably not 12. More like 10. I use a wide padded strap anyway so I'm not too concerned.

Great! I feel your excitement. I acquired a mint condition 1997 Fender American Deluxe jazz bass (with original John Suhr electronics) a few months ago.

Marcus Miller's bass has the ultimate jazz bass tone! :)

These are great basses and a lot of us believe that more weight = more tone, so you are good there.

I also like this model because it does not really clone Marcus's tone too much. The real clones are the Atelier Z's - which are awesome as well.

This signature model just works on everything. I'd suggest a preamp switch if you don't like the current one, because a jazz bass with a proper pre is one of the greatest sounds in the world.

Yah I haven't really gotten to know the preamp very well. I'm blown away by the passive tone. The bass and treble boost in active mode are nice, but I could honestly live without them. The only mod I'm seriously considering is passive tone control.

This bass has been hanging on the wall of this particular store for years. It's got the damage from slap happy teenagers to prove it. I went in today and they dropped the price significantly. I make an offer and the dude says it's already too low. I go back later and I get another guy who's willing to make a deal so the bass came home with me. It has the quality I expect from Fender Japan. Powerful pickups with lots of variation. It's heavy though. Has to be at least 12 pounds but there's so much tone. Damn fine bass.

Would you say your MM bass is a bit on the bright/trebly side? I also got one used and it's quite bright so I'm not entirely sure if the pickups were changed by the old owner.
