I have a SD SMB-4A that's wired (mini toggle) series/parallel. It sounds great with D'Addario Chromes. Also added a thumb rest (super warm sounds) and a Hipshot bridge and Ultralite tuners.

I got a Gator GWEBASS Hard Case for my Jag. $119.99 from Sweetwater. It's a little roomy, but it will work just fine. Also got some Dunlop strap locks.

Got my bass all nice and setup (for the second time). It plays like buttery glass, now. So smooth. I love it.

I like the series/parallel setup. It has a nice, subtle variation in output/tone. I initially was going to get a Nordstrand Big Man 4 or a Delano MC Jay-Ray (I love the look of that pickup). I got a really good deal from Reverb on the SD SMB-4A, though. Who knows, I might experiment some more...

That tone issue happened to me the first time I messed with the controls. Or, at least something similar. This second time I got a linear pot for the volume and an audio pot for the tone. Works perfectly fine. Much better.

I got my bass back from the guitar tech. It all works (volume, series/parallel switch, tone and jack). It plays very nice. I really like the D'Adarrio Chrome flats (they have a nice dark blue silk on them). They sound great. That SMB-4A is a hot, hot, hot pickup!

I also got a Hipshot Type A bridge, too. Great sustain. Of course, I had to get the matching satin chrome.

I got some Hipshot Ultralite tuners. I really like them. Negate neck dive quite a bit. I used shrink tubing for the spacing. Worked great. The necks on these basses are awesome. Not what I would have expected on a made in China bass.

So, you’re saying that I have the switch wired upside down? Lol. I will have to wait until Thursday so my friend can look at it. This is getting more time consuming than I initially thought. Now, I’m thinking of just wiring it up regular. I don’t know. I guess I’m just frustrated with it.

Now, would anyone know why my tone sounds like crap? It is almost non-existent. there is a slight fluctuation for like 1/5th of a turn, then just no change. Should I have used 500K pots instead?

On my 3 way toggle, up position is series. Middle position is rear coil. Both of those work. Down position, which is supposed to be parallel, doesn't work. It stays rear single coil.

So, I have the white wire started in the wrong spot? It should start top right, then bridge to middle left?
