This is why I get paid to play ...

Very cool, and great that your getting paid to have fun. For most folks it's the other way around. Blue

Got kicked out of my band on Labor Day, madder than a hornet this morning...

Always be up front about what you can commit to with a band. Prior to an audition we told a guy, made it completely clear we gig a lot and playing with us could involve gigging Fri, Sat and Sunday . He shows up for the audition and and say's "I really only want to gig once or twice a month" We...

This is why I get paid to play ...

For those of us out there working every weekend, yes we all run into problems occasionally. It's a part of the business and yes I agree, it's also what we are paid for. Blue

Do you prefer to play music that makes you feel younger?

I'm 60 and play in a busy blues/rock band. We have people from 21 years old to people in their 70s come out to see us. What music I play doesn't make me feel young or old. Most guys I know that have this "I won't play this or I won't play that" attitude are band less and sitting in their...

Check out my band (and critique my bass playing!)

I see where your coming from. You guys are probably young. Have a good time and have fun. I'm one of the few that gets off on being sober and in complete control, that's fun for me. blue

Where do you go to find subs?

If you had 5 go to key keyboardists you are lucky. Many TBers won't like this, because many feel that any band can just get a sub to fill in for any member.I don't subscribe to that notion. In Milwaukee subs are really only available to the "A" list bands or the "In Crowd" if your not a part...

    Back to the Navy Club

Interesting that Arthur did not help. It's just a natural thing that we all show up 1.5 hours before a gig and we all help each other load in and out. Blue

    Back to the Navy Club

Interesting, everything in the Milwaukee area is 8-12 , 9-1 and some 9:30-1:30. Blue

Got kicked out of my band on Labor Day, madder than a hornet this morning...

This is what I was talking about in the other thread. Some guys are limited in how much they can commit to a band because they are younger with a young family any that's a lot of responsibility in it's self. Not many women are going to let a guy gig Fri, Sat and Sunday. blue

    Back to the Navy Club

Cool set list, It also shows all of us cover bands are not the same. We do not play any of those songs, however I would like to add Tush & Voodoo Child (Orinthia's version) Were not far apart though, we just added "Fire" & "Sunshine Of Your Love" ( Orinthia's version) Were using...

    Band Drama Night!!!

Unless you guys are young, like 18-21, there is no reason for outsiders to attend rehearsals. If you do, it's not really a rehearsal. Blue

Got kicked out of my band on Labor Day, madder than a hornet this morning...

Exactly it' is really something we all have been through. You have learned something about the harsh realities regarding how people look at gear, how some bands have hidden agendas and that a lot of stuff is not fair. To the OP, you really can screen out bands that are not a match for you by...

The Official Covers vs Originals Thread

I think I'm more of a "are you sure your really happy?" type of guy. I'm not convinced that all originals guys are. How many lists have I read about these bands falling apart, bad band experiences, playing for free and then someone saying I'm thinking about going the covers route. Most of you...
