Granted this is not a complicated bassline by any means, but it fits the song perfectly and is very melodic, and Gene spices it up a bit with some of the improvising he does during this performance of it. I feel like this dude is pretty underrated (in the class of classic hard rock bassists).

This discussion brings to mind these vids from years ago when Guitar Hero II first came out and Gene played bass onstage with a couple people, I loved that gritty tone, looks like an SVT-II Pro he's got there. The Axe sounds decent.

Well if you look closely at the pickups on the basses, they are clearly not passive EMGs, they don't have the passive logo on the casings. Plus his tone just has that active EMG sound to it

I recently saw a video of someone playing one of these and I loved the tone. It's got the perfect rock tone. Anyone know how the original pickups are compared to say, EMGs? Gene Simmons is one prominent player I know of that used one, he swapped his out for EMGs.
