I started off on a toby bass, not great but not bad, I haven't tried any other cheap basses except a Yamaha and an Ibanez which in my opinion blew the toby out of the water.

I always go used if its a bass or guitar that is easily found used ex. a Fender P-Bass or something to that nature. Ok, so I'm going abroad in a weeks time and I can't take a bass with me. Considering that I will be gone for nearly two weeks and not having a bass I want to know what I can do to try keep my chops and my callus's in check.

I feel the same way being able to pick up a song on the spot is invaluable, I do it with both guitarists and keyboard players, obviously this is no substitute to learning the song properly but being able to scrape your way through a song on the spot is in my opinion an invaluable skill.

Damn never really thought about it learning to sing much, I always hated the sound of my singing voice. I'll give it a go though.

Personally I think that any musician should have a basic understanding of any instrument he/she can their hands on. I'm a bass player and have always been, but I play guitar decently and I can play a little piano as well since I grew up with a piano in the house.

Ok, I'm a pretty novice bass player and I got this bass a few days ago. It's my first fretless and I love it. Only problem is its buzzing at and above the 5th fret. The action is extremely low imo and the neck is pretty straight. Should I try adjust the truss rod?
