There aren't any vents on the top of the amp in a Metro combo. It is basically rack-mounted in the combo cabinet. Airflow is how I described it earlier in the thread. Mine has been totally reliable since I bought it in 1999.

Well, a bunch of the Eden amp heads had the 2 channel arrangement, so there's nothing special there. If 4" casters work for you after removing the original socketed ones, drilling new holes and mounting them, more power to you.

IIRC, the pair of 10s in the combo is wired for 8 Ohms, which translates to 240 W output. 400 W @ 4 Ohms and 600 W @ 2 Ohms. I'd have to go digging in old paper files to confirm, but that's what I remember.

And when running it hard did you find the fan somehow objectionable? Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm having some trouble understanding how the cooling system doing it's job is really a problem.

There are three sets of perforations on the back. One set is to the left of the fan, one set is for the fan, and the other set is to the right of the fan. The fan draws in air and exhausts through the other two sets of perforations. The fan on my Metro doesn't start unless I'm playing pretty...

OTOH, a new player isn't likely to be gigging, so transportability probably isn't really that important. I was seeing the OP looking for a low-cost amp that would do OK for a beginning player. Maybe I missed some other criteria.
