    Promised to check back. Strug her up some evah slaps. Guage was the same so no filing. Easy change. The all metal orchastra were heavier by weight but no loss of volume. Noticeably less tension and softer on her bony fingers. Rounder sound. Bouncier. $250. Still married. Thanks all.

    Thanks. Thought I'd slip sumpin under the tree for encouragement. Even if just a mental boost. Started in open keys. Doing good for 4mo. Tempo good. It's the fretted tone or lack of.

    Got my wife a really nice 1940 Kay for her birthday. Her first instrument ever. Just for easy bluegrass thumpin. Luthier set up with HeliCore orchestal strings. Plays great to me but is there a better/easier fretting string for her thumpin?
