    DOD Bonebreaker

Haha, yeah, I've seen your posts in several of the Boneshaker threads. I haven't had enough time to mess around with it yet but so far, I'm a little disappointed with it. :/ Hoping that that will change as I tweak worth it more. But I know at least two of the problems I have aren't easily fixable...

    DOD Bonebreaker

Hey, did you end up getting this pedal? And how much do you like it? I just bought it a few days ago semi-impulsively after seeing demos and reviews and finding a good price. But I've had my eye on the Empress Heavy for at least a year and a half now. If I buy the Express Heavy, I want it to be...

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

This is my favorite response yet. I'll give slowing down a try sometime. I don't know if I can switch my metronome up the way you described but it sounds like something I kinda just gotta get mentally accustomed to. As for switching the plucking fingers, I really try to. I've noticed that my...

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

@GastonD Oh, I know. But that'd be one hell of a routine. I guess if started out slowly enough, someone could start to get the hang of it but all of that would be a nightmare for me! :S

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

I just feel like the book is good for maintaining or improving overall technique in certain areas. I've considered doing an exercise one day playing with my fingers and the next day playing with a pick to keep those chops up. You could do all sorts of things with that. When playing with a pick...

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

@GastonD This is the kind of stuff I wanted to see come out of this thread. Not that I'd adopt that into my own routine. That's a little complex for me. :D @mambo4 Yeah, the notation is odd considering you're transposing the exercises on the fly in virtually all the keys (among other reasons).

@ba55i5t Not to put my ignorance on display but uh, how would you go about playing those later excercises? The diminished and augmented runs?

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

@fearceol Haha, I get what you're saying. This thread was created with the sole intention of sharing ideas on how we personally practice with the book. Long before I actually made an account on here, I searched (in vain) for tips on using the book efficiently. That said, I know practicing the...

Does Jeff Matz of high on fire use a pick?

Taken from the liner notes of my copy of Luminiferous, he uses Dunlop picks. He may very well use his fingers too; I'm not sure.

    Ghost notes - 0 fret

Just lay your finger(s) anywhere on the string and pluck it. Don't actually fret anything though. Also beware (mainly) of muting with your fingers on the 5th and 7th frets. You don't want to accidentally play a muted harmonic.

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

I took up strict alternation some time ago and the exercises really help a lot with developing it. I start at 60 bpm (as recommended) and play up until my index finger is in the 12th fret position. I then speed up my metronome before playing the patterns downwards. Obviously, once I get to the...

    Bass Fitness Practice Methods

First time posting but I've lurked around here for quite some time. Anyways, Bass Fitness (by Josquin Des Pres) seems to be relatively known in the bassist community but I have yet to see a thread discussing how people use it to practice. Sure, the book comes with (sorta obscure) instructions...
