I have played Fender for 35 years (JB mostly), but I have now owned a 4003 for the last few years. Perfect complement as the bridge and bridge+neck sound amazing. The trick is to get used to the straight neck. The quality is amazing. I'd buy the mapleglo, no doubt.

There are plenty of great reggae bass players that deserve respect. Tight playing and no show-offs.

The GK MB200 is one fine amp too. I bet that rig sounds great.

The D'Addarios sounds great on both a J-bass and a Ric 4003. Feel sticky first but get better. Best choice if you like to emphasize the mids and cut down on treble and bass frequencies. If you come from rounds, this is a first good step towards flats.

Both are good but the D'Addarios (45-100) are better. Flats sound great on a J-bass.

J-bass wins any day. Ric 4003 is a fine complement, but the straight neck is a challenge for Fender (and Gibson) players. Phil Jones Double Four is an amazing amp. Perfect size and great sound. All the features you need. Phil Jones D-400 is also remarkably good, although not as spectacular as the Double Four. Both are warmly recommended. Otherwise GK produces good amps. I play Ric 4003 and Fender jazz bass.

After 35 years of playing, I have found my perfect sound: EVM15L (1x15) powered by a Phil Jones D-400 and a SansAmp rack. I play either a Ric 4003 or an American Professional Jazz bass (w. flats). The EVM15L is wonderful if you like the brightness of the bridge pups I prefer to use.

The only thing you need is a compression pedal. I use a EBS Multicomp. Excellent.
