Great Photos of your Favorite Bassists

Mr. Gary Lunn One of the most influential musicians of our time and a truly nice guy.

Am I too old to get started in this?

Like most have said, age means nothing. Very few play an instrument as their sole source of income ~ so why do they play? ENJOYMENT! It’s why most start in the first place. As far as your choice of instrument goes, there are many decent choices in your price range for a first guitar. Take your...

Sire M7, Alien Audio Constellation 5, & Yamaha TRB6. I’ve narrowed it down to these lately. Just going to find an old P with a rosewood board & I’m done. maybe:roflmao:

The Official Alien Audio Bass Club

Everything changed the day I got mine lol. The search ended. In reading all the posts in this thread, I can’t really add much except to say ~ if you’re on the fence about buying one, just do it. My Constellation is the most perfect instrument I’ve ever owned - and I’ve owned many. This is a...

    The bass you'll always own.

My 25 year old TRB... back when they were still made in Japan. I’ve had some way cheaper, I’ve had some way more expensive. This is my ONLY constant. I’ll be buried with it

Afraid to use your nice gear?

Interesting. I have expensive stuff to play at gigs and practice at home on. But... I’m a fireman. That means 24 hours in a firehouse where often times no one is there. So - yes, there is “down time” in the evening where I can practice as much as I want. The good stuff doesn’t come to the...

You walk into a recording studio, 3 basses are hanging on the wall...

If you spend any time around no kidding/constantly hired studio guns, a P bass of some sort is the only constant. Period. No consequence whatsoever of what “kind” of music is being produced. Other basses show up for sure, but at that point ~ it’s players preference. Make sure to have a decent...

You walk into a recording studio, 3 basses are hanging on the wall...

P with flats ~ a must “Fender shaped object” ~ must #2 (too many great aftermarket jazz mutts to be brand specific these days) 5 string active of some sort ~ must #3 What you didn’t ask is “what about DI boxes” That is the REAL question for studio work

OMG.. this woman can bring it

Ridiculous musicianship. Young musicians, regardless of style, should watch this. Several times. Then be told “When you reach this level, you may take a week off from practice”.

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

I’m going to buy a Fodera sticker and get a Squier just so I can do it

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

Lets take this one step further albeit in a wee bit different angle... How many times have you been ready to buy a new bass, one which should be nicer or better BECAUSE of the higher price tag ~ only to leave the shop or the sellers home because this anticipated gem was junk? I’ve sold or...

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

Absolutely! Kim Stone (Spyro/Rippingtons/solo) plays a 6 string SX fretless on occasion. I think he dropped a more specific p/u in, but still. A world renowned player with a stable of fine instruments playing a $199 SX. Oh the HORROR. He sounds just like Kim Stone on it too!
