Agreed. When Chaka and I were both very young I had a crush on her bigtime from the first time I heard her. Didn't even have to see her, but when I did it was total love at first sight and note. Now we're both older and larger..Man oh man! She reminds me so much of Chaka Kahn with a horn group. I think she was kickin it. The group gave me the shivers.
I played after school and weekends in the early 70's while at U of Washington. This kind of music was all over town, especially the U District. On any weekend you could go to a half dozen clubs to listen and dance to outstanding funky dance music with horns, awesome bass player with a P bass and Ampeg SVT/810. What an excellent time to be a musician. The music was real, untouched, and the musicians were stellar. You couldn't cheat back then like you can now-- you had to bring it! That's what this band reminds me of.
