I said when the circuitry fails (i.e. "emits smoke"). Dead in the water. There's no repairing most PCB surface-mount stuff (usually made in China) nowadays. That's why I bought a spare Rumble 200 combo. -

My '81 P Special has a dead spot at D3 (G @7th). When I stand the bass upright, muted (by leaning the strings mid-scale on the palm of the supporting hand) and rap the back of the neck w/ a knuckle, the instrument resonates dead on D3 clear and loud. -
