    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

Someone said they had a faulty Orange head that did a similar thing. Found out there was a problem with the thermal cut-off resister. Makes sense.

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

Oh well. My conclusion is this amp is knackered. Tried: 2 different cabs. Both tested at around 4.8 ohms 2 different basses 2 different speaker cables 2 different instrument cables Amp not on top of the cab Amp plugged into 2 different ring mains This is the 2nd Nexus FET I have tried to buy...

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

You'd think if that was the problem though (dodgy mains) it would blow a fuse? rather that cut out for a few seconds.

If I'm pushing the input level. Would that draw more current from the mains? :-/

Doh I meant "It shouldn't cut out, right?"

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

Mr Foxen: If the input LED goes into the red it should still be OK? It should cut out, right? Like I said been happily in red here at work at low output volumes, so would think it should be ok at louder. Will see tonight.

Cheers Bovril. That would be great. I emailed Laney technical support, but no reply. And they don't seem to have a phone number.

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

Yeah, but that's not good/shouldn't happen. I also had it plugged into another 8x10 (while it was sat on the other)...still happened. I'm now thinking its a mains electrical problem. Will update later. * correction on my last post (too early) "Bloody weighs a tonne too"!

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

True. But I'm pretty sure that's not the case with this amp, as it states: "Set to 7-10 gives extreme overdriven and sustained sounds." Might look into different tubes at some point, cheers. Like I said I was pushing the pre's, but even into the red, it shouldn't cut out. After today, (with it...

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

OK, tried it again today at work with an 8ohm speaker low volume. Fine. Can't really push volume here so it may be vibration or a dodgy mains electric supply? Will check it again tonight at our rehearsal room, but will try plugging into a different ring main and not have amp on cab. Surely the...

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

@ Bovril: Sounds suspicious to me too. I was pushing the gain quite a bit. Am after getting plenty of dirty gain out of the amp, not after clean. I have done this for years with other lesser amps with no problems. Seems stupid to have a protection circuit, but thought I'd ask! @ Foxen: Possibly...

    NewLaney Nexus Heads?

Hi everyone. New to the forum, so be gentle. I just purchased the Nexus FET. Tried it out for the first time tonight. However I'm not sure if there's something up with. Is there a protection cut off on the input gains? It seemed that if I tried to push the input gain to anything resembling what...
