Thanks DiabolusInMusic. Yes, the hum/buzz goes away when I touch the strings. In fact, I can get most of it to go away if I turn down the bridge pickup and leave the neck pickup on.

Reading a lot of reports about the Focusrite 2i2 suffering from clipping issues when recording instruments. Anyone have anything new about that? How wide spread is it? Is it a few bad models or a problem with this device? And anyone know if its been fixed in the newer models.

What is your current setup? How are you plugging your bass into your computer? If you're getting feedback and hiss, that would be the area to focus on.

Quite frankly, I consider GarageBand about as simple as you can get. Is there a particular aspect of GarageBand that's tripping you up?
