    Star Washers Questions/Pot installation

Looking at a '63 Jazz. The pot stems are too loose. Everything functions, but there is no resistance in the knobs. There are no star washers present. Could this be the issue? I don't see the pots moving, but that's how it feels. If so, what is this the correct order of installation? Pot...

    '60 - '61 Correct Fret Wire

I cannot find an authoritative answer to the question of what size fret wire was most commonly used on 60-61 Jazz basses. The custom shop version uses 47095. From what I've seen on luthier forums, this is too wide and very likely to damage a vintage fretboard. There's a Jetscar wire branded as...

    Refretting a ‘61 Fender

Thanks for all the input. Since this is a player's instrument, I think a period correct refret might increase the value. I've been talking to local luthiers and, understandably, they don't want to give an estimate until they see it. Can anyone tell me what they paid, or what you think is a...

    Refretting a ‘61 Fender

    Fodera Club Part XXVII

I bought a 90's era Imperial on impulse last night. In transit now, haven't seen it in person yet. It has Bartolini and a HAZ labs preamp. Do you think it would be worthwhile to swap in a new set of Fodera/Duncans and a Fodera preamp? I'm on the fence. I've heard the Duncans and they're...

Geddy Lee????? I don't get it.......

This thread is 10 years old! Just read every post, the convo is still worth having. Let's face it, Rush was overrated. The compositions were mostly without logic. The early records are clumsy "we want to be the Canadian Zeppelin." 2112 is a parody of itself. Even as they matured, they...
