Why aren't PJ basses more popular and more available?

I upgraded my '96 P deluxe with: Babicz bridge Aguilar active/passive preamp Dean Markley SR2000 Medium Lites It's a killer! But, I had to trade it for $1800 worth of plumbing. Boy, do I miss it!

Best bass mod ever for you?

The best thing I did for any Fender Bass is a Babicz FC Bridge. The sustain is forever!

    Those GIANT Fender tuning keys!

Ultra-Lites are a good bass alternative; less neck dip. Give em a try

I don't like anything!! Can anyone just build me a custom head?!?

I've been really happy with my MarkBass Little Mark Tube, played through a 4x10h will electrify a large room.. A 2x10h for small venues. If you need more power then, 8x10h. Clean, crisp, punchy with great bottom end. I play an Ambush Custom 5er with hand-wound Bartolinis. Tough to beat!

You walk into a recording studio, 3 basses are hanging on the wall...

    1) I loved my 1996 Fender P-deLuxe 4, dearly until I traded it to a plumber to re-pipe my house. I kept the stock pickups, added active/passive Aquilar preamp, Babicz FCH bridge and Dean Markley SR2000 medium lights. Vintage tone plus modern jazz brightness. Truly missed! 2) I currently play...

Are Shorter Scales the Hottest Trend in Basses Right Now?

Scott Ambush built my 35" 5er, and is building a fretless for me. Both with Babicz bridge and John East Retro preamp. With DM Med-Lite strings it sings like a bird.

What kind of strings do you use?

I love Dean Markley medium-lutes on my Scott Ambush 5-er. They resonate forever due to the single wire core; and exceptionally good withe the Babicz full-contact bridge . Very soft feel! Check out Scott on youtube with Spyro Gyra. Bill
