    Rick 4003 Truss/Neck repair

UPDATE: Okay so after being unable to make any progress myself I took it to a local tech that was recommended to me. He messes around with it a bit and after about 5 minutes he realizes that the G-side truss rod is just...broken. The top nut for the rod just kind of fell out of place. We then...

I haven't tried to remove the nut entirely yet. I can do that when I am home. Is there anything I should be wary of? I dont wanna cause too much tension on the other truss rod and break it or something

I don't see how it would matter, if I used a standard 'truss rod tool' I would still be unable to turn this nut.

No, it's from 93 I can take the picture of the truss rods at the base of the neck this evening. I have been using a basic torque driver (a socket wrench/screwdriver looking thing if you're unfamiliar) to attempt to make my adjustments.

Awesome - this is great! Yeah...the owners manual is poorly written, hence my confusion. I'll give that a try buy I'd like to see what @Jeff Scott has to say first - he apparently has experienced the exact same symptoms...

What you are describing is what I thought was the case for the pre-'84 truss rods, not the modern dual truss rod neck. It was going to be the next thing I tried but I couldn't gather whether or not it was for the 84 necks only - so I came here to ask. If I can use that method here I'll give it a go

So do you believe that flatting the neck out by hand/with clamps would allow me to tighten the E-string side much easier? Because right now I don't think I'll be able to, even with a good amount of force.

Yep! Here is another picture for you (see attached) The serial number decoder on the website states: December of 1993

I also notice that at the base of the neck I can see the G-side truss rod (the one that turns just fine) in the small gap between the neck and the pickguard. I cannot see the E-side truss rod (the one that is very hard to turn) poking out. If I look at an angle, I can see it, its just 'in' the...

The G-side TR nut moves free both CW and CCW. The E-side TR nut will hardly budge. It felt like I could likely get it to come unscrewed if I applied enough force CCW. I am just not sure that is what I want to do here. I dont want to put too much tension on one single rod. I can attempt to...

    Rick 4003 Truss/Neck repair

Update: The truss rod nut on the low E side is absolutely refusing to budge. I can maybe turn it a hair in either direction but after that it stays stuck. Although I am a little bit confused as to which direction to turn it. The manual states underbow = clockwise and overbow =...

Well actually, he knew right when I brought it in that it had two truss rods. The tl;dr was like Me: "Hey, I pulled this rick out after a few months of non use, the neck is severely bowed, can you fix it for me" Luthier: "Yeah, but if it's not been touched in awhile one or both of the truss...

Actually, I just moved near the ocean! I moved to Connecticuts coast. That being said I do my best to control the humidity in my studio room. Alright, I'll use that as a last resort, and if I do I'll do it with the bass upside-down or something. I'll just try to use more force. I'm going...
