New Acoustic Bass guitar the Shortbass One! Small, LOUD!

It strikes me as pretty ironic that one of the viewers of this video complains about the bass being a little too loud ("quel bassetto ha un volume esagerato..."). :D

Here's my solution, for what it's worth.

Once the string has been cut to the right length it's possible to grab the end of the outer wire to unwind it. The wire is sufficiently stiff to not unwind itself. This applies to the .110 E as well.

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 5

Given the last three years, there's no good reason to expect otherwise, despite what the fanboys might say.

Larry I didn't have any problems at all fitting the .145 B. Just removed enough of the outer winding to stop it wrapping around the post and it hasn't shown any signs of wanting to unravel:

    Are mikro basses frowned upon?

Fitted the G, D and A from the D'Addario EXL170BT set, and also a .110 E and .145 B. That set has a .107 E and it probably wouldn't have made much difference if I'd used that instead, but I had the .110 and thought why not use it as when it comes to short scales every little bit of extra tension...

    Are mikro basses frowned upon?

Yep, and this also applies to the 5-string Mikro. Moved the stock bridge 7 mm further away from the neck and now all is well, especially with a .110 E and a .145 B.

Rule 3(b) of Fanboydom: Make sure to pronounce correctly the brand name(s) of which you are a fanboy. I guess it's fortunate that Upton chose Kala as his brand name rather than, say, Ho'oulumāhiehie or Kuhikuhipu'uone. :D :bassist:

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 5

Don't know, and don't care, considering that I've had the thing for more than three years. And besides, what good is a warranty anyway? I've had no end of trouble with my U-Bass, as well as needless expense, because of what in my opinion is the wrong positioning of the saddle. The only way to...

Yet another way of attaching a strap to the neck end of your U-Bass, one that doesn't seem very popular around here (is it that hard to fit a strap button?):

"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 2

For those of you Mikro 5-string owners who are as dissatisfied as I was with the excessive floppiness and crappy intonation of the factory-fitted B (and perhaps E), here's how to fix these problems: 1. Move the bridge about 7 mm further away from the neck, and 2. Install the recently-released...

    D'Addario new for 2013 thread!

Just fitted the EXL170BT_XLB145 medium 42 lbs set to my Ibanez Mikro 5er, after having first moved the bridge about 7 mm further away from the neck. Not only does it now play extremely well, with no excessive floppiness to the B and E strings, but it can also be set up with close enough to...

    D'Addario new for 2013 thread!

I was already well aware of this, having had prior experience with other short scale basses, but I guess you weren't to know that, so I'll excuse the condescending tone of your comments. The thicker strings are certain to be a little less floppy, hence more to my taste, and they will almost...
