AmpliTube iRig & Peavey AmpKit Link iPhone app kits

Sorry, should say "jacked the sound". I found after the last update the sound quality was way worse. Installed ampkit and it was great compared. Yes, there is more playback control in Amplitube and the looping is great for te extra tricky phrases, but every time I imported a song into...

AmpliTube iRig & Peavey AmpKit Link iPhone app kits

Just to add my experience: I started with the iRig/Amplitube combo which was decent until the update that jacked to sound which is now useless. Downloaded Ampkit and am delighted at the improvement. I also like the fact that I can play along with any music on my iPhone without having to import...

    DI quality?

Does anyone have a view on the Aphex Xciter 1402 as a DI. Is there a way to use it so it's bypassed (or minimal tone change) and what quality is the DI? Thanks!

    Tobias fans... spotted this

Without being any kind of expert, it looks like a Toby (the cheap one) and is therefore very overpriced. Hard to tell from the photos though ... Also, Barts aren't standard on the Toby so this might mean some upgrades have been done.

Mighty Mites pickups: active or passive?

Ah, the million dollar question! :-) The short answer is I don't know. Having played guitar for so long, my bass 'ear' isn't really in yet. I guess somewhere in the middle of old-school and hi-fi. Something versatile, balanced, that'll let me experiment to find my tone but that is a quality...

Mighty Mites pickups: active or passive?

Mark, Thanks for the info. Do you rate the direct replacement Barts at all? Also, what do you like about the Sadowsky pups? Cheers! :-)

Mighty Mites pickups: active or passive?

OK, based on further reading on this here forum, I think the first step is to replace the pickups. Once installed, I'll try them passive and through the existing preamp and see if either or those is a go'er. If not, the BQC might be just the ticket. So, now my question becomes who does pickups...

Mighty Mites pickups: active or passive?

If you had to choose replacing either the preamp OR the pickups, which would you replace first? :)

Mighty Mites pickups: active or passive?

Cool! Thanks for the heads up on that one. I think I avoided EMG as I think of it as a fairly 'Metal' -focused company. This preamp is versatile enough to handle other styles though?
