    Using a screen during shows

Looks pretty cool and you can get away with nailing a sheet to a wall if you have too. I've seen bands project onto themselves during their set with great success as well. especially if the club or yourselves have a small smoke machine.

    Selling tickets for shows

That could potentially work. Have the bands email something out to their ppl to say show at the door for a buck off or something like that. Then just keep a tally of the folks the come in and do that then give the band that had the most ppl a higher cut of the door?

    Selling tickets for shows

Agreed. That's why I was thinking the bands that sell tickets would make more than the bands that do not. The door split will be the door split but what the band sell prior is theirs. How do you reward the bands that hustle people in without cutting the bands that do not at the door in a fair...

    Selling tickets for shows

We've a solid door staff and our regulars appreciate the bands and typically chip in when they are given a door pass. It's the random folks try to come in the side door and sweet talk the door man.

Thanks man. i appreciate your reply. That is far more a detailed model than we have in place. In attempting to digest the above it occurs to me ticket selling by the bands is not something we can do for you're every day club show. I'm not even sure it's worth it for our bigger events...

    Selling tickets for shows

I know exactly why ppl are suspicious! That's why I'm on here trying to figure out how to explain to the bands where they know I'm not trying to screw them! We don't take anything from merch sales and only 20% off the door to make sure we've got door sound and stage covered. and most of the...

    Selling tickets for shows

Depends on the bands motivation I'd say. If a band is motivated they can make more dough by selling their own tickets or ensure a big crowd by giving them away if they so choose. The bands will always split 80% of the door or more if it's a sponsored show. Most of the time folks are gonna buy...

    Selling tickets for shows

I think you're missing the point. The bands will split the door regardless if they sell any tickets. The benefit is for them to sell the tickets themselves and keep 100% of what they well. Or give them away to ensure a good crowd. Bands will never be on the hook for unsold tickets nor are...

    Selling tickets for shows

How so? If no one shows up we make no money and if we guarantee the band a certain amount of money and no one shows up that's called in the industry taking a bath. Right?

    Selling tickets for shows

    1. We hope to one day make a profit. 2. We sell beers 3. We are not a non-profit The goal is to have as many ppl as possible come in the door and get their faces rocked off. And beers in their bellies! The more ppl in the house the greater the experience is going to be for the band as well...

    Selling tickets for shows

You are correct. I am booking for a venue and trying to figure out creative ways to get ppl in the door and at the same time benefit the motivated bands yet not necessarily hurt the lazy ones.

    Selling tickets for shows

This shows great motivation on the part of your band to sell the tickets and you did. So much that they started giving you straight 75% of the door now. Very nice. Most bands won't have this type of motivation but anything they sold themselves is to their benefit, yet not cutting their throat...
