Fake. Japanese. I told that guy he needs to revise his listing before he rips someone off. The truss rod slot, the nut, and the tuner holes/pattern are a dead give away. Probably a nice playing MIJ copy that could fetch 300.00 but not a Fender.
Its been a while since this post and I have seen at least a dozen of these since. I am going to conclude that there were some 70's P basses with a walnut plug at the headstock.
Found out this is actually a 75 once I looked up the serial. Its for sale but I just have some hesitation about that walnut plug being on a pre 78/79 Fender bass headstock.
Georgestrings,
Click on the thumbnail for a bigger picture. I have not seen any fretted rosewood basses with that walnut cap on the headstock. Every 70's P with a Rosewood fretted board I have seen has the truss adjustment at the heel and no visible plug on the headstock. Here is a closer...

I almost didn't want to post this...
Have had two offers for 625.00 via private messages. I am pretty firm on the price. 650 shipped to lower 48. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, you can pay the difference. Will ship in the same box it shipped to me in.
This is in mint condition, only played once and still has the plastic on...
My scale says 8lbs 5 oz. I don't think it 100% accurate, but fairly close.
Here are a few more photos. I am having a hard time uploading more. I keep getting errors for some reason.
I am selling this beautiful 3TS sunburst bass because I like rosewood necks and thought I would give this a try. I am trying to recoup most of the money I spent on it. Retail is over $1,000. Its a great japanese made bass for a great price. I opened the box, played it for a couple of hours...
