    Jazz GAS, please advise

Haha, I did it! I've ended up with a new MIA Jazz Std, Mystic Red, maple. I tried a 2010 used and a different new, and the one I've gone with plays way better. All three sounded good, not much to separate them, but this one was much faster and smoother. So there we are! Thanks for the help...

yeah, I got to say, I wouldn't expect to be asking this in any of the shops round here, but maybe I'm just being timid

I have an MXR compressor, not planning on changing this. None of the Js I played today had the same finger touch sensitivity as the EBMM but I guess that's normal? Not problem but interested to know if that's what I should expect?

I don't have any Fenders, and I think I should. The EBMM Ray is all the MM I'll ever need.

Smooth. Not worried about bug attack and punch, my Ray does that. Think legato, melodic, tasteful, classic blues, old fashioned. I don't want a P thump, like to be heard in the mix without having to turn up. Does that make any kind of sense? Nice clean low mids, not too much top - again, if I...

Strings I'm relaxed about, it's going to end up wearing flats anyway. It'll be going into a Markbass which I realise isn't exactly vintage but that's how it goes! Plenty of Eq options with BEQ pedal and MB pre amp.

I'm nervous about swapping things like the pickups - isn't that going to spoil the value? I'm not intending to sell - ever - but I want to take proper care. I know that changing the pickups isn't a really big deal, but I'd rather keep it all original. What's the score with 2012? Is that when...

    Jazz GAS, please advise

I had a MIM P for about a year, good for recording and sounded great on its own, played well too but I struggled to get a live sound that I loved. Very likely it was me, but i just couldn't get it to cut through in the mix. The EBMM does this, in spades, and now I'd like a smooth old fashioned...

also I'm likely to put flatwounds on, but all the shop basses have rounds. I've never liked the original fit strings on a new bass, any thoughts on this?

thanks, High Camp, right now I'm thinking that I really want something US made, and I'll go new if that's the right answer, but I'd like to get some more information about what the options are and a bit more detail on what they mean...

hello gang I'm GASsing bad for a Jazz, please spray some wisdom on me... I play busy fingerstyle funk, badly. Main bass is a EBMM 4 H, and I'm looking for a great bass to play on the more old fashioned parts of our set. So - I tried a load of them out today Pre owned MIM 70s (block inlays...
