    When pickguard off, the sound more open ( too open actually). So its gonna change your default tone - in more negative way

    'Best' Year For Fender Jazz Bass

    2000 vs 1980 (or modern vs vintage?) Ive try 2007 amstd, then i use 1983 amstd. Both passive, alder body, maple neck. For me 1983 is better because : more solid low, more high presence. Neck more thinner - easy control.

    BBE change ur tone. Spesific: "remove" ur essential mids. I dont like it. But RC booster, the most clean clear booster. It boost up tone "ONLY". No colour!

    Ive decide change jb fender N3 pickup to SJB 3. And thats right decision. SJB 3 more, growl, punch, even "more fender sound". So i just borrow the fender wood haha.

    Xotic Bass RC Booster

    Ive try boss geb 7, seymour duncan paranormal, bbe 482 sonic max, radial bassbone 1. But xotic rc booster is the most clean clear that improve (not change) your tone! This baby respect your bass a lot. Just bring original tone to the front. And thats just enough for me, just enough!

    bbe sonic stomp or 482i?

    I use 482i on fender jb 83, SD sjb 3. I think its limited use. It scoop your mid, but little too much for me. Bbe will make the low fatter, the high more transparent but it will "remove" some essential mids. I can accept this fact for slap situation, But i lost some essential mif when i use...

    Yamaha RBX170

    My first yamaha bass is rbx 765a, second trb 6II, and d last rbx 170. 170 is good bass. Good tone finger, but going bad if you slap it. If you looking for cheap, good finger tone. i recommend 170. if youre slapper this bass was not compatible.

    Ive tried hi beam n prosteel. Both sounds great n bright. But i prefer hi beam. Because not too bright, its "safe" bright

    Do Heavier woods sound better?

    Ive tried jb squier 77 (light body) & jb 1983 mia (heavy body). Same pickup, same bridge. Very huge difference. 77 less punch, less spectrum, loud but empty. 83 more punchy, wide tonal, loud and fat.

    know your role in the band, provide a strong foundation. that's it. 5/6 string, high speed, difficult technique, solo section is optional!! #19 years of playin' bass
