I just bought a Fernandes Burny Bass from the 70's. Im curios to know what kind of wood was used in the bodys, seems to me that it's made of 3 layers of 2 different wood. But I cant tell how many pieces since it's lacquered in black. Anyone ho knows? If anyone have good links of info about...

Neck Upward Bow on warwick streamer jazzman

Should I leave the neck clamped in a back bowed position for a long time? Should I have the rod loose when I clamp and tense it immediately after clamping?

Neck Upward Bow on warwick streamer jazzman

to phil : I understand your idea with bending the neck, although I don't entirely grasp how you want me to accomplish it. What is a 2x2 wood? Do you mean that I should just put the neck on top of two pieces of wood, one in each end. And a third one on top and in the middle of the neck. And then...

Neck Upward Bow on warwick streamer jazzman

I've had this bass for about a year, bought it at the pawn shop. It looked like new when I got it. It's my first electric one. It's a fret-less warwick streamer lx jazzman with a bolt-on neck, the neck is made of Ovangkol and the fingerboard of Wenge. The neck has an upward bow (the...

    Maple neck back bow problem

I found the problem. Thanks for mentioning the pitch thing. I removed the neck today while changing strings, and found out that someone adjusted the pitch. It was to far out, so I adjusted back into the body. And now the neck played so nice it couldn't be anny better! So no shim needed. Thanks...

    Maple neck back bow problem

Thanks for the instruction of how to use the shim Greg! although I haven't thought of using the rod to change action, only to increase neck relief. If I change action on the bridge right now it will have to be set much higher than I want to. Maybe you can tell me how the truss rod...

    Maple neck back bow problem

Im not hundred percent sure it has a one way rod, didn't dare to wind it to far after loosening it. And the fender site doesn't say. But it's a reissue from -77. It plays really good if I play it gentle, but if I start fingering with power there is buzz, especially on the upper frets(on...

    Maple neck back bow problem

I just bought a new 4 string Marcus Miller j-bass from ebay. When I got it the strings where tuned to pitch and the action was nice, but the neck had almost no relief (got some fret buzz on the last 8 frets) otherwise it looked great, very straigth and good looking neck. So I started to loosen...
