    Macbook Pro help

Consider using a pre-amp to boost the volume of your bass (before it enters Garage Band) and if the pre-amp has EQ, the brightness of the tone.

fretless, with no lines, $1000 price point

I'm selling a Fender Jazz fretless with an unlined neck; I also have one with a lined neck. The unlined has Fralin pickups, John East J-Retro preamp/eq, Badass bridge. You're welcome to play them, even if you're just doing research.

    ABG, Strings, and Etiquette

I have strong feelings about this. First, thanking someone for inviting you to their home by sending them a small gift demonstrates something about what you are and about what you have. Know what that is? CLASS! I am an ABG nut, have owned several. My current favorite is a Boulder Creek...

Help me choose my next budget bass

You need a Ray or a hollow body in your stable. But also try an Ibanez Jet King. Mahogany body, 2 humbuckers, maple neck with a satin finish. Thunders like a big bad bass, rocks out, hits pop sounds, and has a great slap tone using the bridge pickup alone. I found one on Craigslist for $150.

Best 500$ and Under Passive P/J Bass (Part 2)

Best Fretless Acoustic Bass - midrange pricing

Boulder Creek makes the ERB3-N4 and N5, four and five string, with fretlines. I have played a lot of acoustic bass guitars, and the BC is the best instrument, short of a handmade custom guitar.

Talk to me about TAPEwounds for ABG.

Tapewounds will not ring or give the mids and highs of even an old set of metal flats, so be prepared for thumps, and thwacks, which are great if you need that texture.

    Switching to flatwounds

I have a 5-string ABG and I like chrome flats on it. Warm, but with a midrange.

Bass Has Tall Frets, How to Sand Them Down and Lower the Action?

THANK YOU all for your advice. Allow me to clarify: 1) I never intended to work on the bass myself. 2) I bought this Boulder Creek because I tried every ABG available, and some that have been discontinued, and this was the LOUDEST one. I wanted an instrument that I could play on the...

Best Strings For Acoustic Bass Guitar? Help!

I've put on chrome flatwounds, light guage. Very nice. Action on the bass is too high, so will take to a tech. Going to try nylon tapewounds next.
