I've got a 1981 "gold top" (HS graduation present, now with a lot of green) weighing in at over 12 #. Just (as in today) took delivery of a black '64 AVRI that, without the plates, weighs 8.5# on my bathroom scale. 'Nuf said.

Nice interview with Sean Hurley re P-bass. Great bass player. Seems like a good guy, too. I love the P-bass. But I just did a re-vamp of a 58 reissue and put a Jazz neck on it. As I get older, the slimmer neck is much easier to play. Actually selling a CS Pino Palladino because of this very issue.

Recently acquired through TB classified. Small hands and worsening carpal tunnel issues make the wide neck difficult for me to play, so part with it I must. Wonderful sounding and feeling bass, silky neck, beautifully worn TI flats. Superb. 8.6 pounds. Shipping included.

Congratulations on the purchase. They are great basses. One caution: the nitro finish is EXTREMELY thin and it will chip/dent/scratch easily. That's been my experience. Otherwise - enjoy. Beautiful instruments.

Thanks! I used a '64 AVRI Jazz neck, which I like a lot. I took I bit of steel wool to the back of the neck to reduce the stickiness. Very nice neck. The guard holes lined up perfectly BUT, as you know, the tort guard has mor holes so installation required a little drilling. ThAt took just a...
