Very nice! It seems like there are more people putting together P-Basses with J necks these days. I did a similar project myself earlier this year, albeit with a somewhat lower end body and neck.

Speaking of the neck, which one did you go with? Is it a '62 or '64 AVRI J bass neck?

Also, how well did the holes on the '63 P-Bass pickguard line up with the '58 P-Bass body? I found that to be a little challenging with my own build since I used the lacquer finish 50's P-Bass body, but wanted a tort guard. Official Fender tort guards are drilled for 13 holes that don't really line up that well with the 10 drill holes on a 50's P-Bass body.

Great looking bass. I've had the same finish issues with a Hot Rod '62 Stratocaster I own. I can mark it up brushing past it wearing blue jeans, it seems. Not going to find a whole lot of these in "mint" condition in the future.

Thanks! I used a '64 AVRI Jazz neck, which I like a lot. I took I bit of steel wool to the back of the neck to reduce the stickiness. Very nice neck.

The guard holes lined up perfectly BUT, as you know, the tort guard has mor holes so installation required a little drilling. ThAt took just a few minutes (all in, <10) and could just as easily and well done with an awl rather than a drill. The original anodized, when put back in place, looks fine.
