Fender Jazz not cutting through the mix live

Wilson Pickett's Hey Jude is a quiet track in general (unless there's some mix or remaster I've never heard), but I've never really had a problem hearing the bass once it and I think the main drum part kicks in. Jerry Jemmott was almost definitely playing a 60's Jazz with flats at the time...

Others playing your bass between sets or other

That's awesome and just plain adorable! I think I'd end up just giving my basses to people who ask to play them to keep and regretting it the next day :P

Acquiring two Squier Jazz Basses with aftermarket pickups. Need string advice

Thanks a lot! I'll look into the Precision flats and I was already thinking I probably want some form of half/ground/pressure wounds so I think I'll do well with those. For clarification, by well-broken in you mean still lively but not like, new string twangy? How long do the pressure wounds...

Acquiring two Squier Jazz Basses with aftermarket pickups. Need string advice

My profile picture was what I found after searching the internet for the term "Clinician Bass" for a bit, definitely not of me! While I definitely wasn't planning on getting two basses anytime soon, I was able to work out a combo deal, although I was already concerned about getting both a nice...

Out of curiosity how are the Elixir SS if you have any experience? I assume like on guitar they'll have less treble out of the box but will stay consistent for a longer time?

Acquiring two Squier Jazz Basses with aftermarket pickups. Need string advice

I mean, the people in that time period who played jazz basses (outside of John Entwistle) did get the bass sound of the time period, though I definitely would prefer a setup with a P Bass or PJ w/flats and a Jazz w/ flats or tapes, and a repeat of one of the others but with rounds and maybe in...

Yeah, I'm hoping they're not too bad with brighter flatwounds at getting some good warm but not "dark" classic sounds, and I think the TI's or something kinda have the upper mid presence that might do that but hopefully some treble, just not growl on that bass.

Which bass do you think it would be best for then? I assume the DP149 more modern sound? And they have more mids? Finally, do you know how long they usually last? I forgot to mention but on the one with not flatwounds I do have a bit of a concern for string life.

Acquiring two Squier Jazz Basses with aftermarket pickups. Need string advice

I'm making a deal with someone for two Jazz Basses, both with aftermarket pickups and high mass bridges. One has Dimarzio DP123 Model J Pickups with 60's spacing, the other one has Dimarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz pickups. From what I can tell, the Ultra Jazz are rather mid-scooped and the Model J...

Three Band EQ vs Four Band EQ (and what about pedals?)

Damn! That looks pretty badass! As far as I can tell, though, it's out of my price range for a while. Thank you though!

Three Band EQ vs Four Band EQ (and what about pedals?)

I'm not really aware of the others, but JPJ is more seventies and played rounds with a lot of growl. I specifically meant with similar setups to session players, or at the very least flatwounds and foam, so my apologies. I know Ric Grech did, but I'm not really aware of much else

Three Band EQ vs Four Band EQ (and what about pedals?)

I like Motown thump a lot, though I also really like Paul McCartney's "trebly thump " he gets on Revolver, SLHCB and MMT with his Rick. Rain, Hey Bulldog and With a Little Help from My Friends have some really great sounds. I think Paul's is more midscooped though, or at least the low mids, but...

How do you find Ampeg's and Acoustic's?
