    The Monoprice P-bass

I have a Monoprice Pub Bass in Blue. The basics are nice and solid. The neck at the nut is 42mm and I sanded the back of the neck to get it a bit more comfortable. It's not baseball bat like but a bit more of a handful than I like. I had to do a fret level re-crown and polish and go down the...

But do I DESERVE a "nice" bass?

I know people who don't even play that collect fine guitars and basses. You certainly don't have to be a bass god to own one. Having said that my friend you may be disappointed in your purchase. I have been playing for a very long time. I have had every great bass there has ever been. None of...

Is it sacrilege to sand your gloss neck?

I cannot live with a gloss covered neck. All of my guitars and basses get the treatment when I buy them and before ever playing one note. The neck comes off. I mask off the front of the headstock and I sand until there is no more gloss. Then I Teak Oil that neck and after a few hours go over...

So what does a $25k bass actually get you?

Fancy wood. Gold plated appointments. Nothing functionally better than any other bass. I had an Alembic years ago. I could have put a down payment on a house instead. I hated that bass. It was heavier than any other bass I have EVER had. I thought it had a weird sound. I spent the next 2 years...

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

I don't. That's the reason for the post. To let anyone know that may be contemplating the purchase of one of these necks that it is not worth the trouble.

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

Yes I know deals are out there and few and far between. I would also take anything from Japan before ever go Chinese again. Thanks for the info.

I believe that. It is a life lesson however. Many times you get exactly what you pay for.

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

I think places like Guitar Fetish basically warehouse their items and sell as ordered. I doubt they even know what is good and what is bad. They just sell. Junk in. Junk out. I have also received a few things from them that were good however. It's a roll of the dice!

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

I have several Squires made in China. No issues there although I do a lot of modding to those anyway. I know that things made in Asia are not necessarily bad. Even in this case the product is useable though it did not come the way I would have hoped. This was just my experience with one product...

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

Yes I have had a bad experience with them myself with a Strat Tremelo.. I don't make the same mistake twice.

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

Not at all. The point of this was to check it out. These were my findings in case someone else is looking at making that purchase also.

    CHINESE BASS GUITAR NECKS

I had heard little about Chinese bass guitar necks. I found a rosewood P-Bass neck with pearl block inlays on ebay for only $79 bucks so I decided to give it a shot. First off if you order from China on a good delivery it can take two weeks with little of no tracking information. It kind of...

    Nordstrand

I recently purchased a set of Power Blade P-Bass pickups from Norstrand. First off if you order from Norstrand it's going to take awhile to get them after you order and with no communication from them until they decide to ship. When you finally get a tracking number it will not mark any change...
