Great info, I appreciate it. Next will be an amp. Looks like the Fender Rumble Series is pretty popular. Though it might be a bit much for starting out, I Like the 40 for its added features and a bit of future proofing.

Question, any problem with 'starting out' on a short scale bass? The guitar that I'm used to playing has the standard 24.75, medium neck. Looking at the online GC description of they're popular selling Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special SS it makes mention of a 30" scale and slim neck...

Before going to GC I thought I would practice some bass on my guitar using the first 4 strings then I could have something to play on each model of bass to compare. Found this Rocksmith video of the bass being played in the exact song I'd like to learn, very helpful....

Thank you mambo, I appreciate it. I'll definitely get my hands on a few different models at my local GC before deciding. I have medium sized hands and have preferred a slimmer neck when playing guitar, so perhaps I'll be looking at Ibenez or Squire Jazz? Does that preference for thinner necks...
