Ok look I'm really confused with where you're telling me to set the controls on the Bass itself. I don't have a bass and treble knob on the bass itself I just have a tone, PU volumes and bass boost. I get the one click above and below centre thing but I don't get which controls your talking...

Thanks for your help, I know that a good technique is essential to a good tone and about the hand postioning (I normally have my plucking hand inbetween the neck and bridge) and I don't use the PHAT Boost because all it does is make it sound more boomy. Ill try adjusting my controls on the bass...

The thing with the room is the bass amp is set up in the corner with a book shelf to the left, a window behind it and my bed in front of it. String wise I currently use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Roundwound Strings (.45-.105) the orange pack. These were recommended to me at my local music store.
