    SG & EB Bass Club

I have always used black tapes on my SG. So for BEAD, I would look at a LaBella 760N-B-S set.

Tune your Marco down a full tone and put a capo on the second fret. Try to ignore the fret markers.

Why? A shorter scale with same string gauge and tension will produce a higher note. If tension (or feel) is to be maintained with a shorter scale, then shouldn't short scale strings have a heavier gauge?

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I have both Action Junior and Talman. Talman has more tonal options, but the Cort has much nicer feel and I find it a lot easier to play. Sounds great too, just with a narrower tonal range than the Ibanez. I prefer the Cort between these two, just for its feel. You can always tweak tonal...

Totally. The pup is an EMG 40HZ designed for 5 string, but it's a bar magnet so doesn't care how many strings there are. I chose it largely because it fits the existing cavity.

Me! And I love it. Compact body and real nice smooth action (as the bishop said to the actress). One of my favourites and highly underrated IMO. It was good right out of the box, with excellent build quality given the price. But I did upgrade with an EMG pup, Hipshot bridge and Graphtech...

    SG & EB Bass Club

On my 2018 SG, heavier gauge LaBella DTB silks just sat over the E bridge saddle, and I think Gibson position the Babizc bridge about 5mm too close to the neck. But the LaBella black tapes I am using now intonate with the saddles closer to the neck for some reason and the problem is no more. I...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Yeah. I just got one a couple months ago and loving it. I've already got a Gibson SG and a Sterling SS, but wanted a single coil sound without going full Mustang.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Why would anybody NOT tune in chromatic mode? Guitar and bass modes have to assume standard tuning, which is not always the case.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I totally agree for exactly the reasons you mention - they are very underrated, and now seem to have vanished off Cort's website. I switched in a Hipshot bridge, Graphtech Ratio tuners and an EMG 40Hz pickup with serial/parallel switching on mine. Not because there was anything wrong with the...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Has anybody tried a Cort Action Junior? I bought one a while back for use out in the province, as a "cheap and dirty". To my surprise, it's actually very good, and the smooth action makes it a real joy to play. To be fair, the hardware isn't great, but good for the price and easily sorted.

Here's one with a genuine stingray shagreen pickguard.
