    You didn't write anything

I think in general, simply writing your own parts to a song doesn't necessarily mean writing credits, because the overarching framework of the song was written by someone else already. I do agree though that it depends on how important the part is in the song. If it's an integral part of the...

Theatrical Live Shows: What are your thoughts?

I think adding a theatrical element is great! It makes the show a lot more entertaining and you get to engage with the audience more. I find watching bands that dress like they just stepped off the street pretty boring. You're playing for an audience, make it fun!

    Somewhat shy frontman

You can try seeing how he feels just singing, and not singing and playing an instrument. Although if he is shy, then not having something to play during instrumental breaks can be awkward for everyone. You have to be prepared to jump around, dance, whatever when you are solely singing. It looks...

    Play for Pay promotions

I would never go for pay-to-play gigs. They are mostly some sort of scam, even if on paper they sound good. We have something here called Scorcherfest - you buy x amount of tickets from the organisers, you sell them at a higher price and you get to keep the profit. Sounds good at first sight...

First audition in a LONG time

Firstly, have decent gear and turn up on time. First impressions really matter, and if you turn up late or turn up with average equipment, then it's not going to look good for you. I remember when I turned up to one audition, the rest of the band spent a good few minutes basically examining my...

    micro managing the kid's band...

I really can't decide if this a troll post, or if the OP just didn't like the responses he received and is throwing a little temper tantrum. Parents taking control of a kid's activity really, really sucks. It drains the fun out of it. Part of the fun is the exploration behind an activity -...

    Sometimes It's Just TIme...

One of my bandmates is in two bands, and while I'm not against people with multiple projects, I have found that commitment from him tends to vary. It seems hard for people to show equal commitment to two or more bands, which is fine if one of them is a side project for everyone concerned but not...

    Putting songs on the internet..

I wouldn't put any recording online - but I think it's pretty important to put something up eventually. If you put a crappy-sounding recording it'll make your band appear crap in general, even if the playing itself is okay. It makes you appear really amateurish.

    Fender Performer

Looks like a great bass. I guess it was during the period where Fender were trying to make pointy basses like a whole bunch of others. It's a very 80s design.

    Are Squier guitars any good?

I generally find the Squier guitars to be variable when it comes to quality. You really have to check out each individual instrument. Some, IMO, are rubbish but there are some good instruments as well.

    WOW!!

That's a terrible paintjob and for that money, I could buy an actual vintage p-bass instead of something that's attempting to look old.

Is it ok to post a cover tune on Soundcloud?

I've seen several people post covers on their soundcloud. You'll be fine as long as the tracks are freely available.

    i hate people

Two weeks can seem really long when you're in an unhappy situation. It depends if you really need the guy's references. If you do, then you should stick it out. If you don't, just demand to leave.

Audition safety & etiquette for female musicians

I've auditioned for bands in the past and never had an issue with being female. I never disclosed to the bands that I was female and it didn't matter. I'm sure there are slimebags out there who do want to get into your pants, but fortunately I've been able to avoid them. Also, when you are...

    Bands...Work Ethic...Guitar Player..Want Opinion

I wouldn't bother with that guitarist. If he's not prepared to apply himself in the same way as everyone else, then he should be let go.
