    It finally happened - amp died at gig

    I always carry a second rig, just in case. It's gotten guitarists and keyboard players out of a bind a few times too. I've been fortunate with only one failure in 50 years, and that second rig was a lifesaver.

    I toured with a Standell that did a great job and took lots of abuse without any problems. Six hundred watts and 4 fifteens, powered bottoms with a pre-amp head.

    Second hand hartke 4.5xl cab made of chipboard??

    I saw repair jobs come in to a local guitar shop, broken with just minor bumps and bangs. They were GK cabs from GC, so maybe Hartke did the same? It's done to keep the cost down, but it also lowers the bass response of the cab.

    Amp choice - which way would you go?

    I used a Mesa Boogie D-180 for 30 years and never had problems with not enough volume. It was always more than enough. If tube sound is what you want, go for it.

    Is there anything that could go wrong here?

    I only do cash 99% of the time, but the one bass I shipped to Oklahoma was done with Paypal, and it went fine. Even cashier's checks have a large number of fraud situations nowadays.

    Has Your Overall Band Experience Been Good?

    50 years of fun and music, a few problems here and there, but I'd do it again without hesitation.My closest friends have all been super supportive, and my wife an angel through it all.
