Yeah, I’m more suspicious of the pot or EQ itself at this point. I can turn the knob up quite a bit with just a little noise but near the upper limit it gets pretty bad.

I just got a used J-4 exotic today and it’s beautiful! I have a question about the EMG pups, though. Is it expected to have a fair bit of noise (hiss-like noise, as if an OD or distortion pedal is in the chain) when playing a note with the high eq knob turned up, even if only to center? Not a...
