Brown eyed girl in key of G?

One thing that I am finding a challenge on bass is because a lot of our keys are designed around the singer (as they should be) 90% of the time the song we are playing is in a non original key. For eg Gimme one reason (Tracey Chapman) original key in F#, and we play it in E....The bassline is...

Oh well I finally got the block and strings on and to say I am delighted understatement Few hurdles along the way mounting the single ball string adapter but possibly more to do with using flatwounds...for eg flatwounds have a cotton binding where the string finishes and leader starts..Possible...

    Hohner B2B headless...intonation blocks...how to set up?

Yeah got the information on the side screw in the block holds the saddles in place now lol. Who'd of thought :-) Some quirky but very practical innovations on this bass. Also judging by some of the photos online it looks like the grooves in the saddles have the smaller groove facing forward? And...

    Hohner B2B headless...intonation blocks...how to set up?

I have a Hohner / Steinberger headless bass B2B...The small brick shaped bass copy of the original graphite Steiny. Just putting strings on and quite surprised to find the intonation saddles are just floating freely. Just wondering if someone can explain how these work? namely the front and back...

Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club

Hey guys, sorry for the off topic post but I belive the Ibanez headless clamping system similar to my Hohner (Steinberger) B2B headless. Just wondering if anyone has successfully put flatwounds through the head clamps? Specifically Ernie Balls. I assume you cut the leaders off the strings and...

Ive got a headless bass and be clamping the strings just past the nut, probably clamping on the main part of the string (inot the leader) Do you think they will be ok? I know the La Bellas will unravel and break if any part of the main string touches the string post on a traditional bass

I mentioned before Ernie Ball 2806 series 3 100 guage flats. Available here and 30% cheaper than La Bellas... Which are out of stock currently. How are these? I know they are supposed to be a bit brighter but wondering what the feel and tension like?

Yeah I mentioned that before... Problem isnt the price or shipping.... Its the Russian roulette of Thai customs prices... Often double the cost price

Looks like pressurewounds off the menu, only ones I can see available locally are 130s and they call them medium guage! Does the construction make them thicker or something? Buying from overseas out for me even if shipping cheap. Customs here charge you whatever they feel like, usually 30-50 %...

Alternative smooth bass string similar to flatwounds but less stiff and expensive

Generally I use 100 guage strings. I live in Northern Thailand and going from cold aircon to an open air gig at 40+ degrees really messes up my action. If I set my action low (how I like it) at home in the aircon.. By the time I get to the gig in the heat the strings are touching the frets. A...
