Can't get a propper 5-String sound out of my Mesa/Boogie Big Block

At least the strings of the Ibanez should be new enough, I replaced them about 1h after I got the bass😅 Also for the Music Man...whiley friend thinks the E-G sound much better at my amp then hers (GK 800), she did not face any B-string issues there😥 Do you have a recommendation for a cheaper...

Can't get a propper 5-String sound out of my Mesa/Boogie Big Block

I have Daddario XTB45-130 on it. I need to check the impedance of the cab to ensure honestly. The HPF sounds like a valid option. Do I get it right that there are not that mouch pedals around and they are no really cheap ones to give it a try? Yes, I think the Titan V12 is the same with a...

Can't get a propper 5-String sound out of my Mesa/Boogie Big Block

No, it was repaired at a friends workshop (Germany) with the guidance of Mesa/Boogie (shout out for their great and free remote support). The issue was a faulty diode for the 12v (tube heater and fans) that blocked completely when it got warm, so the 12V droped to about 8V. Mesa sent us also...

Can't get a propper 5-String sound out of my Mesa/Boogie Big Block

Well together, I hope someone has an Idea I could try: I have since years a Mesa/Boogie Big Block 750 with a Powerhouse 410 Cab (the regular black one). I love it, it is well in shape (last year a rectifier diode blowed, so it got full service incl. new capacitors and new tubes (original...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

No, the voltage Breakdown was allways on all tubes, but there was one with a little higher breakdown (about 0,5V lower). But I saw this now on anoter tube in a different socket (this time a JJ Goldpin in V1). Do you happen to know the Lead Spacing and Diameter of C58? And does Mesa use snap in...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

So, unfortunately agedhorse was right. There is more going on with the power supply. After two practice rounds, the issue is back again. So I started to dig in a little deeper. Short notice, I hope it is ok that I post a copy of the section of the PSU that has the issue. If not, please send...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Yeah, they are all Mesa 12AX7. Propably the original stock and following the sticker on the inside if the amp, it was build in 2003...so they are not the young ones All sounds good = all tubes look the same Not much volume= one looks odd and the others are darker than before. I also swapped V3...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Like mentioned, if the amp works good, all 4 heater are equaly bright and good visable. If it runs bad, V4 has no visible heating activity and the other 3 are significant darker.

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Ah, just noticed your job position^^ I think you have more internal infos than TAD then:D When everything is fine, I can see the heater in V4 very bright and clear, so there is defenetly something wrong with the heater syituation (in V4 or general). (un)fortunately I ws not able to reproduce...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Yeah, I'm with you, that sounds not like an open heater (hwat would be the normal case when a heater blows), since the heater was dark when the issue happens, my theorie is a loose wire or melted isolation in the heater that causes a shorted heater that acts like a nearly short circuit and pulls...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Hi there, so I got some updates. First of all, Mesa customer support worked great, they sent over the complete service manual as well as some ideas for first debugging within 2h by mail! Because I found some wrong notes on the internet: The 750 is not a 2 channel amp with a clean and a...

Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 not that loud. Faulty?

Hey everyone, sorry for digging that topic out again, but I am facing the same problem like Kartoffel (btw. I'm form northern Germany). I have the old version of the big Block (the 19" rackmount version with the Fx-Loop switch) since about 7 years (bought used), and two band pracices ago, I...

    Ibanez P50 P-Style Pickup

Hey there, since a few years I try to figure out who made the Ibanez P50 pickup, or find a List of the basses that had some (Ibanez Wiki does not have musch information about them). They had been installed on the RD606, 707 and 727 (also on some Radbass in the late 80s / early 90s) but not on...

Hi everyone, are WARWICK GB7 real Gotoh tuners? So, just relabeled Gotohs? Or are they just "Gotoh style" made by Warwick? Regards, Felix
