    Effect Pedals & Warwick Basses

I have a 2003 Thumb NT 5 through an Aguilar rig, so it's kind of a different animal, but for what it's worth, I've been partial to Fulltone for overdrives. Granted, you'll have to find a used Fulltone Bass Drive, but it's really flexible. I've been able to coax a wide range of tones out of...

    Waxing My Warwick

I have a wax question, that hopefully isn't a hi-jack of this thread: I picked up a new/old stock 2009 Ltd Corvette $$ 5. The finish is listed as "Natural Satin Finish", which I thought did not need waxing. The included new bass kit came with a tin of wax. Does the "Natural Satin Finish"...

John Taylor: Isolated bass track to "Rio" (1982)

I gotta agree, although I'm hearing the bass as sharp as compared to the band track. Also, the timing issue at 2:26-2:27 on the isolated track is not present in either the background tracks, or the original recording. That said, love JT, love that album. DD's albums have been hit or miss...

    Just a Nut III died. . .

Shop around, including eBay. I bought a replacement JAN III in brass for my Thumb 5 to replace a broken JAN II (Tedur), and paid $50, but the shop had a very good working relationship with the Warwick distributer at the time. It was http://www.creamcitymusic.com/, btw. A few weeks ago...

Wisconsin Bassist Club chapter IV (to the 4th degree)

You know the rules - No pics, no snowblower. Is it all original, or is it modded, (hopefully retaining the mojo)? I hope the relicing is real, 'cuz otherwise it's the same as a neu-metal snow blower, and that's for poseurs and probably never gets used for anything except basement...

My amp list is short - 1986-1989: used Peavey Mk IV into a Sonic with a single 18" (cuz I didn't know any better at the time) 1989-2000: GK800RB into Sonic 2x10 and SWR Triad. Indestructible. 2000-2006: SWR SM-500 into SWR Goliath III 4x10 & Goliath III Jr 2x10 2006-present: Aguilar AG-500...

    Just a Nut III died. . .

Why yes. Yes they are. I just had my second Just A Nut II die on me. Same thing both times: one side of the cradle that the nut sits in snapped off. String pressure still holds it in place, but it's still broken, though not due to mis-handling/abuse. I replaced the first one with a brass...

'End Of The Road For BassPlayer Magazine'

I've been a subscriber throughout the majority of BP's existence, and will probably continue for the foreseeable future. They have had their low points: I felt dumber for having read the entire Johnny Christ cover interview, which read like an 8th grade homework assignment. They also have their...

Yo Mr Wah- As much as I would like to, I will not be able to make the trek to the GTG. We've got three (yes three) birthdays to celebrate that weekend. Could be four, but I defered my own. And my 15 anniversary is that week too... Thanks for doing the leg work on this, Keith - I hope...

Should I fire an overweight ugly guy that wants to steal our domain name?

Is that Talkshoeshinemachine.com? I used to really like that site, but lately there are so many "Jaco only needed a buffing rag" or "look at my boutique shine box with burled balsa veneer" or "should I fire my wax supplier" threads. If I see one more "people that relic their valet stands...

Jaco could do all of that with just four strings. Just sayin.

I really need to check this thread more often. Keith - congrats on the burger. Is there really a higher honor than having a burger named after you? GTG - I wish I could attend. That is my stunning babe-of-a-wife's 40th birthday. MrBEAR - my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I can't...

whats the worst injury you've played with

I played the day after a car accident. Too bruised and sore to stand, so I sat, and also concussed, so I neither drove, nor loaded anything. I also played a three gig weekend the day after hernia surgery - also sitting. The rest of my injuries usually happened during a gig - many bruises...
