    How good are SX basses

    Installing the Audere in that ONE sixer is the most significant thing I've done. My other SX 6ers are all passive with the only mods (other than swapping out some chrome hardware for black) being a series/parallel mod and shielding, oh yeah, I put flats on one of them.

    I don't have to think, I know! :thumbsup: Different strokes for different folks. I have no desire for an instrument far beyond my meager playing abilities. Plus, variety is the spice of life... oh, and I like to tinker and mod. ;)

    Yeah, I put an Audere (3 band) in one of mine too, a sixer. Actually that's the most significant change I made. My only regret is not buying more Auderes before they closed. But my Sires fill my active 5 string J needs.

    Do single cut basses are exclusive for pros?

    I too, bought a relatively inexpensive single cut back when rondo music was testing the market for them. It's a nice bass (Brice), but it's not 1 of my top 10. Then again the only place I play out is church where people aren't supposed to be judging me, so I think I'm safe! 😂

    I'm kinda surprised that your fretted Sire was so disappointing. Fortunately, that has not been my experience with my V7s. But stuff can, and does, happen. Or as I used to say when I was working (I'm retired), "Low probability events do happen".

    G&L Club Part 7

    The thing with L series G&Ls is that because of the strong full spectrum response of the pups, starting off with all controls full up is not a very good place to start. Starting with everything at about 75% will help making dialing in much easier... IME. :thumbsup:
