NBD - Sire V5

First new (to me) bass in 5 years and first jazz bass in almost 10. My goal was to upgrade from my Squier Classic Vibe P-bass (even if only incrementally), and get as close to Geddy specs as I could within a certain budget. This popped up on Reverb at a decent price, so I pounced.

It's my first Sire. Been interested in them for years, so I'm excited to finally get my hands on one. Roasted neck is a tad dark for my taste, but I wasn't really in a position to be picky and it feels great. Even before tweaking the setup to my liking, it was way more comfy than my P-bass.

Interesting cool bass!

Honestly I’m a sucker for maple boards: I’m not sure about the sound (is there really any difference?) but I love how they look.
So, yes, this roasted maple is a bit too dark for my taste.

But nevertheless, it looks gorgeous!

Edit: just wanted to add…. This “dark” maple color works very well with the sunburst they did! Approved! 👍

I like mine, had it for a while. (At least you didn't say "pulled the trigger") Setup was easy and the neck is nice. Sire makes some nice stuff! Play it in good health! Congrats

That's a sweet looking bass! Not a fan of blocks, but they're not too obvious on this. Enjoy.

See, I specifically wanted blocks. My first bass had blocks and I've since become a big Geddy fan, so I was really looking for them.

I definitely wanted the maple for the feel. My p-bass for the past several years had an unfinished pau ferro board and I wanted to get back to wider frets and a finished board like my guitars have. And yeah, I agree it works well with the burst. I probably wouldn't have gone for it if it didn't.

Welcome to the Sire-hood. They really are a good value... we'll I think so anyway.

A nice little collection! Is that a V7 on the right? I really wanted a V8, but I couldn't justify the cost.
