Completed the cap replacement of the B-15N amp this weekend. BTW the amp matched the 1968 schematic. Also - changed the diode and caps on the board (but they seemed ok). It’s closed up now and doing fine. Still a little noise on channel 2 but nothing bad at normal volumes (if I get ambitious...

Tested the p resistors in circuit and they read ok.

PS I thought channel 2 sounded a little better than 1 (more natural) w music playing the B15; similar tone and volume setting. Best “music” tone interestingly was with both ultra low and high engaged in the normal channel on both 1 and 2.

Thanks again for all the advice. After replacing the electrolytic caps and putting shrink wrap on the transformer leads, fired up the amp to do a quick check. Channel one is pretty quite, channel 2 has some hum as the volume is turned up, but I would not push the cabinet much above where you can...

There is a diode tester on the multimeter. Without power on the amp, the diode reads 0 or .5V depending on which direction I have the tester leads. The 0.513v read was with the black lead at the ->| end of the diode. I will likely replace it either way.

Beans, thanks again for your help and support. The multi-can is well isolated w a spacer. I had a spacer in my parts bin plus FlipTop sent one for the new can. The serial number stamped on the chassis is 090071. Pot code date = 1969. The sechematic I’m following (seems closest) is labeled...

Beans, I’m began working on my B15N; the diode on the board is marked F8 (there is no schematic left but one that looks closest from the net lists F4 as the part). It doesn’t looked damaged but I’m not sure how to test. Should I replace and if yes, what is the best replacement part? Fliptops...

Calling on the Portaflex Club for a technical question. My 70s B15N was gone over a few years ago by a tech in PA (when I lived in the Philadelphia area). He changed a couple of caps and did the 3 prong plug conversion. I am getting ready to recap the electrolytic caps (purchased from...

Hi Portaflex Club. I would like to join but only have pictures of the insides of the amp while I working on mine. It's a Black Tolex 70's B15N that I've had for about 10 years. I used to have a beautiful Blue Tolex B15N from the 60s but sold it to a friend who wanted it more than me for his...

SOLD 2015 Fender 'Deluxe Series' Jazz, 9V active, Babicz, MINT, FREE new HSC!

I purchased a Jazz from MasterBass a few years ago and decided to keep the thumb rest. It’s grown on me and found the bass to be excellent as well. Thanks Brother for the bass and inventive rest! It’s a keeper!
